About me

My name is Sofia Coelho. I’m a psychologist with a deep commitment to understanding the human mind and supporting people in their personal growth. I grew up in Lisbon, Portugal. There, I developed a strong connection to nature and the calming rhythm of the sea. When working together, this imagery may sneak its way into our conversations as metaphors. Moving to the Netherlands brought a new chapter of self-discovery, shaped by the experience of building a life in a different culture.

As an expat/immigrant, I understand the emotional and psychological complexities of building a life in a new country. From cultural adjustment to feelings of isolation and disconnection, I know how challenging it can be to find your footing in unfamiliar territory. This experience informs the way I support clients navigating life abroad, helping them create a sense of stability, belonging, and self-trust.

Being neurodivergent has also shaped both the personal and professional path I walk. Thus, my practice has a deep respect for difference. It embraces diverse ways of thinking and feeling that don’t follow the norm. Additionally, I hold a commitment to creating a therapeutic space where those differences are embraced rather than pathologized.

Therapy with me is collaborative, respectful, and centered on your unique needs and values. So, this is a space for exploring, questioning, grounding, and growing curiously. Additionally, my role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you. Thus, allowing you to reconnect with your strengths and navigate life with greater clarity and self-awareness.

The practice is open to people from all walks of life. This is because my intention is always to offer a space where you feel supported, seen, and empowered to move forward on your own terms, without judgement or pressure to fit into anyone else else’s idea of “normal”.
